The Superior-Greenstone District School Board Grade 5/6 class from George O’Neill Public School created a song and video entitled “Homeless” to support Joe Roberts and his “Push For Change to end Youth Homelessness”.

On May 1, 2016, Joe Roberts, Former homeless youth, began pushing a shopping cart across Canada to raise awareness and funding to end youth homelessness. His journey started in St. John’s Newfoundland and ended September 29, 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Many schools in the Superior-Greenstone District School Board had the opportunity to meet and walk with Joe Roberts to learn about how youth homelessness is a very real problem in Canada. The students of George O’Neill Public School chose to create a song and video to show their continued support and bring awareness to the youth homelessness problem in Canada.

The student created video and song was launched on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.  Students selected Valentine’s Day as their video launch date to encourage love and kindness to be shown to all and not just friends and partners. Students said that “Joe Roberts made a promise to walk across Canada to support youth homelessness. We, the students at George O’Neill Public School, made a promise to write this song and produce this video to bring more awareness to youth homelessness. We believe ending youth homelessness is possible, one promise at a time”.

To show your support, students encourage everyone to please watch and share the video they have created to further Joe Robert’s promise to end youth homelessness. The video is available starting February 14 at 8:30 a.m. and can be seen at the following link:
