The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Fitzgerald as the acting Vice Principal for Nakina Public School. The appointment is effective January 22, 2018.

 

Fitzgerald began his teaching career in Marten Falls, Ontario area working as a teacher in the grade 5/6 classroom. He then moved on to supply teach at Superior-Greenstone District School Board and the Superior North Catholic District School Board for a year before his career then took him to Aroland First Nation to teach for several years.   In 2014 he joined the Superior-Greenstone District School Board team once again as Grade 2/3/4 classroom teacher at Nakina Public School. 

 

Fitzgerald holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University and a Bachelor of Education Degree from Lakehead University. He also holds a Masters of Education Degree in Education Leadership and Administration from the University of New Brunswick.

 

Upon his appointment, Fitzgerald said that he is, “very excited to engage with this new journey in our vibrant and dynamic learning community. I will continue to ensure that our small school remains a safe, secure, welcoming and student centered environment. I assure you that the students and the school community will consistently remain my priority. Thank you everyone for your best wishes, encouragement, and ongoing support. I indeed look forward to this new role and learning experience."

 

Director of Education, David Tamblyn said it is a pleasure to welcome Kevin Fitzgerald as acting Vice-Principal for the Nakina Public School. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Tamblyn extended congratulations to Fitzgerald and looks forward to working with him on the school administrative team.
