School Calendar Survey
At this time each year, Board Administration consults with its teachers, staff, parents, trustees, union representatives, school administrators, and its coterminous board partners in order to develop the upcoming school year calendar.
Two options for the 2012-2013 School Year Calendar are included for review by stakeholders and we invite your feedback via Survey.

Access to the survey will be available from December 19, 2011 through January 20, 2012.
Survey results will be compiled for consideration at the next meeting with coterminous boards scheduled late in January 2012. On February 21, 2012 the Board will review a final draft with the intent to submit it to the Ministry of Education by March 1.
In developing the proposed calendars, it was necessary to consider the following: • Scheduling a minimum of 194 instructional schools days
Note: Professional Development Dates do not count toward instructional days) • Providing an acceptable balance in the number of days in each secondary semester
Note: Both calendar options provide for a 90-days first semester and an 88-day second semester • Scheduling up to ten instructional days for secondary examination days • Ensure scheduling for optimum access for co-curricular activities and opportunities for professional
learning • Consistency of the calendar with our coterminous boards in order to take the advantage of shared
bussing arrangements Both options shown are modified school year calendars in that the school year starts on Thursday, August 30 with professional development days. However, students’ first day of class is scheduled on Tuesday, September 4 (after Labour Day).
