Celebrating 45 Years of Terry Fox's Legacy
The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is proud to celebrate the participation of students, staff, and communities across the district in the Annual Terry Fox School Run. This year's event carried special significance, marking the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope.
In 2024, SGDSB schools collectively raised an impressive $7,095.55 in support of cancer research. To date, the Board's schools have raised more than $160,000.00, demonstrating that even small schools can make a big difference. This achievement shines as an inspiring example of what can be accomplished when a focused goal is paired with a collaborative spirit of generosity and determination. The 2025 fund raising amounts are not yet finalized.
Schools across Canada share in this important work, and together, schools from coast to coast raised $14 million in support of the Terry Fox Foundation's mission.
Director of Education Will Goodman expressed gratitude on behalf of the Board, stating: “We are deeply proud of our students, staff, and communities for their continued commitment to keeping Terry Fox's legacy alive. Year after year, the generosity and determination across our district remind us of the power of unity in achieving meaningful change. Together, we honour Terry's vision and contribute to research that impacts countless lives. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this important event.”
The SGDSB extends heartfelt appreciation to all who took part, reminding us once again that small schools can make a significant difference in the fight against cancer.
