Manager of Financial Services

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Harris as their new Manager of Financial Services. The appointment is effective May 21, 2019.

Harris brings with him 10 years of finance management experience and holds a CPA and CGA designation. Most recently he has worked as Chief Financial Officer of Atikokan General Hospital. Within his role, he also managed day-to-day operations of corporate services functions, including information technology, and procurement. Prior to his employment with the Hospital, he worked in public accounting for 7 years. Harris is a former graduate of Superior-Greenstone District School Board. He was born and raised in the community of Dorion and attended both the Dorion Public School and the Nipigon-Red Rock District High School.

Interim Director or Education Nicole Morden Cormier stated that "it is wonderful to see our students return to work in our district and take on an integral role within our administration. We look forward to welcoming Brent to Superior-Greenstone District School Board and I am confident he will provide excellent leadership to our financial services team. He joins us at an ideal time as we focus on the implementation of our new strategic plan and stewardship initiatives to improve efficiency across the organization."

Upon his appointment, Harris said that he is, "very excited to begin this new journey in a vibrant and dynamic learning community. I look forward to joining the team as we collectively work towards meeting the organizational goals."

Harris will succeed Dianne Williams, who has served as SGDSB’s Manager of Financial Services since 2010. The Interim Director of Education said "we are thankful for Dianne’s many contributions as our Board has benefited greatly from her expertise. Staff will miss her positive and jovial attitude. At this time we celebrate the years of service and dedication she has provided us and we wish her all the best in her retirement."

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Morden Cormier extended congratulations to Harris and looks forward to working with him on the Senior Management team as the new Manager of Financial Services.
