MMPS Reopening October 10

Public Notice – Marjorie Mills Public School Reopening

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is pleased to share that Marjorie Mills Public School will reopen for regular school hours on Friday, October 10, 2025. Student transportation will also resume as scheduled.

Following a two-day police response, the shelter-in-place advisory for Ginoogaming First Nation has been lifted. Authorities have advised that residents may resume normal activities, while remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to police.

After a thorough response and investigation, officers have determined that the situation has stabilized, and the threat to public safety is no longer considered active. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit continues to investigate in collaboration with the Anishinabek Police Service, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Residents of Ginoogaming First Nation can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as this work continues.

We understand that this has been a difficult time for families and the community. The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remain our highest priority. We are grateful for the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by everyone as safety protocols were followed and authorities worked diligently to resolve the situation.

If any additional safety instructions are received from authorities, the school will communicate this information to families promptly.

We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to school on Friday.

Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
