GCHS Welcomes New Vice-Principal

MARATHON, Ontario – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Deidra Gerrard as the temporary Vice Principal at the Geraldton Composite High School, effective February 5, 2024, through June 26, 2024.

 

Deidra Gerrard is currently a dedicated and esteemed teacher at Geraldton Composite High School (GCHS), and has accepted the half-time, temporary Vice Principal position.  Deidra brings a wealth of experience, passion for education, and a deep understanding of the unique dynamics of the school community.

 

Upon the announcement of the new appointment, Deidra expressed excitement to begin this new journey into leadership.  “As an alumna of Geraldton Composite High School (GCHS) and a lifelong community member of Greenstone, I am honoured to bring these perspectives into the role of Vice Principal.  The relationships I've already built with staff, students, and community will reinforce the growth that GCHS has seen over the last year. I look forward to new challenges and opportunities!" 

 

Director of Education Nicole Morden Cormier stated that, “Deidra's existing role as a teacher has allowed her to build strong connections with both staff and students, and we have full confidence that, as Vice Principal, she will continue to positively impact the school environment. Deidra's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere aligns seamlessly with the values of Geraldton Composite High School and Superior-Greenstone District School Board”.

We are confident that she will excel in this new role and contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of Geraldton Composite High School”, stated Superintendent of Education Will Goodman.

 

This appointment also exemplifies the Superior-Greenstone District School Board's commitment to recognizing and providing opportunities for internal candidates, aligning with the objectives set out in our previous multi-year strategic plan. Nurturing talent from within the organization continues to be a priority of the school board, as they strive for excellence and continuity in leadership.
