On the afternoon of June 19, 2025, the Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) proudly held a special tribute ceremony at the SGDSB Learning Centre in Red Rock to honour the memory of Billy William Cormier and celebrate the lasting impact of the Cormier family within the school community.

A beautiful tribute bench, gifted by the Cormier family, was unveiled during the event. The bench was donated in memory of their beloved brother, Billy, and in recognition of the family's deep and multi-generational connection to the former Red Rock Public School—now the Superior-Greenstone District School Board Learning Centre. Over the years, many members of the Cormier family have walked the halls of the school, contributing as both students and staff, creating a legacy of learning, leadership, and community spirit.

“The Cormier family has long been part of the fabric of this school community,” said Director of Education Will Goodman. “This bench serves as a powerful symbol of their contributions and continued presence in our hearts. We are honoured to accept this meaningful gift in Billy's memory.”

Members of the Cormier family were joined by SGDSB's senior management team and staff at the heartfelt ceremony, which provided a moment of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance. The tribute bench now sits proudly on the grounds of the Learning Centre, serving as a welcoming place for reflection and connection for all who visit.

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board extends its deepest thanks to the Cormier family for this thoughtful and generous gesture. It stands not only as a tribute to Billy William Cormier but also as a lasting testament to the impact one family can have on a school community across generations.
