Celebrating New Leadership at LSHS and TBPS
Community, Leadership, and Learning Shine as School Year Begins
at Superior-Greenstone District School Board
The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is proud to celebrate the start of a new school year filled with energy, learning, and community connections. This year also brings exciting leadership announcements, as Amy Buchan begins her role as Principal at Lake Superior High School and Laurie Foster joins Terrace Bay Public School as Vice-Principal.
At Lake Superior High School, students have already embraced engaging experiences, from embracing experiential learning, creating murals in visual arts classes, to hosting a back-to-school BBQ that brought the school community together. Principal Amy, who transitioned from Terrace Bay Public School, shared her enthusiasm for this new chapter:
“I am deeply honoured and overjoyed as the new Principal to be a part of this remarkable high school community and to work alongside the exceptional staff, students and families,” said Principal Buchan. “Together, we will build upon the school's strong foundation to continue contributing to this vibrant community where every student feels valued and empowered to achieve their dreams.”
Meanwhile, Terrace Bay Public School has welcomed Laurie Foster as its new Vice-Principal. Students at the school have started the year with excitement, diving into hands-on science, technology, English, and math activities, as well as class music presentations. Laurie expressed her gratitude and vision for
the future: “I am thrilled to be joining Terrace Bay Public School as its new Vice-Principal. Since moving to Terrace Bay, I have had the privilege of meeting many staff, students, families, and community members, and I have been overwhelmed by the warmth and support I've received. This is a beautiful town filled with caring people, and I am fortunate to be here.
What excites me most is the opportunity to build on the strengths of this school and community while working together to create new possibilities for students. Terrace Bay Public School has a proud history, and I look forward to honouring that legacy while also leading us toward continuous growth and improvement.
My commitment is to listen, to learn, and to collaborate. I believe the best education happens when schools and communities work side by side, and I hope the families of Terrace Bay will join us in this shared journey. Together, we can ensure that our students not only succeed academically, but also develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive in life.”
The Superior-Greenstone District School Board remains committed to its mission of working together to engage students through meaningful learning and empowering them to build the skills they need to succeed today and in the future. With strong leadership and enthusiastic school communities, the 2025–2026 school year is set to be one of growth, collaboration, and opportunity.
