Spirit, Leadership, and Learning Shine at Nipigon-Red Rock District High School

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to celebrate the successful start of the 2025–2026 school year at Nipigon-Red Rock District High School (NRHS), marked by exciting student learning opportunities and a strong sense of community spirit.

This year, SGDSB proudly welcomes Scott Gordon as the new Vice-Principal of NRHS. Scott brings enthusiasm, leadership, and a commitment to student success to his new role. Sharing his excitement, Scott said that he is “looking forward to working with everyone associated with Nipigon-Red Rock District High School.  I'm excited and proud to be given the privilege to work alongside staff and students as well as our community members.”

Scott joins Vice-Principal Lisa MacLeod, who continues in her role with a dedicated focus on overseeing the Indigenous Skilled Trades Training Program. Together, they bring strong leadership and complementary expertise to support the growth and success of all students.

Students at NRHS have already been busy this September, engaging in a variety of meaningful learning experiences. Highlights include beginning work on a medicine garden in the school courtyard, constructing picnic tables while practicing important safety skills, and connecting with the land while learning about traditional medicines. The school also hosted a number of spirited theme days during Spirit Week, building school pride and community connection.

These activities reflect SGDSB's mission to work together to engage students through meaningful learning and empower them with the skills they need to be successful today and in the future. Guided by its vision, SGDSB is committed to meeting the needs of all learners while sparking curiosity and joy in learning.

The Board extends a warm welcome to Scott and celebrates the energy, commitment, and collaborative spirit that staff, students, and families have brought to the start of this school year.  With such a strong foundation, the year ahead promises to be both successful and inspiring.
