The Superior-Greenstone District School Board held its 2026 Annual Organizational and Regular Board Meeting on Monday, November 17, 2025. During the meeting, Trustee Pinky McRae was acclaimed as Board Chair, marking an extraordinary milestone, her 16th consecutive year in the leadership role. Trustee Allison Jarvis was also acclaimed as Vice-Chair, entering her sixth consecutive term in the position.

Upon assuming the Chair role for 2026, Mrs. McRae expressed her appreciation to the Board for their continued trust and confidence. Our collective commitment to good governance and strong relationships ensures we continue to make decisions that support the well-being and success of every student we serve.”

School board Trustees are the oldest form of elected representation in Ontario. As locally elected officials, they play a critical role in ensuring schools operate within provincial standards while remaining responsive to the unique needs of their communities. In addition to establishing strategic priorities and engaging with the public, Trustees are responsible for budget oversight, setting policy direction, and advancing the central goals of student achievement, well-being, and safe, inclusive learning environments.

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is comprised of 12 Trustees representing communities across the district:

Following the election of the Chair and Vice-Chair, the Board proceeded with the organizational portion of the meeting, appointing Trustees to serve on statutory and standing committees for the 2026 year. These committees play an essential role in strengthening governance, oversight, and community partnerships.

Committees include the Parent Engagement Committee, Board Audit Committee, Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), Occupational Health and Safety Committee, Board Policy Review Committee, and Indigenous Education Advisory Committee (IEAC).

Ontario's public education system is founded on the principle of equitable access and high-quality learning opportunities for every student. Public school boards play a pivotal role in ensuring that all students have the supports, resources, and learning environments needed to achieve high standards.

Trustees help ensure Ontario's education system continues to respond to the ever-changing needs of communities and the evolving challenges of the modern world. Together with Senior Administration, the Superior-Greenstone District School Board sets the conditions necessary for student achievement, well-being, and long-term success.

As the Board enters the 2026 governance year, Trustees reaffirm their commitment to collaborative leadership, good governance, and decisions that honour the unique strengths, cultures, and communities across Superior-Greenstone.
