Marathon, ON – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to celebrate the first three weeks of the 2025–2026 school year, which have been filled with energy, learning, and community spirit. At Margaret Twomey Public School, students have already been busy harvesting vegetables from last year's school garden, learning to make apple juice and sauce, and preparing for a welcome back barbecue on September 22. These activities reflect SGDSB's mission to create meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that connect students to their communities and foster growth beyond the classroom.

As part of this exciting start, SGDSB is proud to announce the appointment of Caterina Tolone as System Learning For All Vice-Principal, based at Margaret Twomey Public School for 2025/2026 school year. Caterina brings valuable experience in technology and the arts, including theatre, which will enrich system capacity and inspire innovative opportunities for students. She will be working in collaboration with Principal Cameron Craig, who has returned to Margaret Twomey Public School this year. Together, these leaders bring unique skill sets, a wealth of experience, and a shared commitment to student success across the board.

I am looking forward to supporting students, families, and educators to create learning environments where every child feels seen, supported, and valued. Together, we can strengthen inclusive practices and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.”

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board warmly welcomes Caterina and looks forward to the leadership, creativity, and innovation she will bring to her role. With the strong leadership team at Margaret Twomey Public School and the enthusiasm of staff, students, and families, the 2025–2026 school year is off to a vibrant and promising start.
